About Us
Proclaiming Christ Through the Lutheran Confession
Mekane Eyesus Orthodoxy is a confessional Lutheran ministry dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to the Holy Scriptures and the faithful witness of the Lutheran Confessions.
Our mission is to strengthen believers in the truth of God's Word by providing sound biblical teaching, historical theology, apologetics, and educational resources rooted in the evangelical and catholic faith confessed in the Book of Concord (1580). We seek to demonstrate that Lutheranism is not a new religion but a continuation of the apostolic faith, faithfully preserving the teachings of Christ and His Church.
What We Believe
We confess:
- The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
- The doctrine of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
- The three ecumenical creeds—the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds—as true summaries of biblical doctrine.
- The Lutheran Confessions contained in the Book of Concord as a faithful exposition of Scripture.
- The biblical teaching concerning Holy Baptism and the Lord's Supper as Christ's gracious means of giving forgiveness, life, and salvation.
Our Purpose
Our ministry exists to:
- Teach the Christian faith from Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions.
- Equip believers to understand and defend the faith with confidence and charity.
- Preserve and promote the rich theological heritage of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus and the wider Lutheran tradition.
- Provide accessible resources including articles, books, devotionals, catechetical materials, and theological studies.
- Encourage faithful Christian living centered on Christ, His Word, and His Sacraments.

Our Vision
We desire to see Christians firmly grounded in God's Word, joyfully receiving His gifts through the Gospel and Sacraments, and faithfully confessing Christ in their homes, churches, and communities. In all that we do, our goal is to point people not to ourselves, but to Jesus Christ—the crucified and risen Lord, the only Savior of the world.
“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

“We have learned from none others the plan of our salvation, than from those through whom the Gospel has come down to us, which they did at one time proclaim in public, and, at a later period, by the will of God, handed down to us in the Scriptures, to be the ground and pillar of our faith.”
— Saint Irenaeus of Lyon
