The Trinity

The Church confesses one God eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — each fully God, distinct from one another, yet one in essence.

This doctrine was defended and clarified at the ecumenical councils of the early church, above all Nicaea (325) and Constantinople (381).
