Systematic Theology

Lutheran systematic theology is all about the good news of how God saves helpless sinners. Instead of focusing on God's absolute power or human free will, it centers entirely on Jesus Christ and the comfort of forgiveness. At its core, Lutheranism strictly separates God's word into two parts: the Law, which exposes our sin and shows us we cannot save ourselves, and the Gospel, which promises that Jesus has done all the work for us. Lutherans believe we are saved by grace alone through faith alone—not by our own good deeds or spiritual choices. God gives us this faith and forgiveness through real, physical means: the spoken word of the Bible, Baptism, and the Lord's Supper. Ultimately, every single teaching in Lutheran theology points back to one main truth: Christ died for your sins, and salvation is a free gift.
